The more than 275 chairs include the American Adirondack chair, an artist's chair with a painter's palette studded with glass beads, pearls, and crystals, and a gazebo chair. Creative reproductions include salesmen's samples, works by Mackintosh and Hoffman, the Breuer and Eames chairs and Tutankhamen's throne. The chairs themselves have been gathered at flea markets and antique shops, or commissioned from well-known architects and designers.

William L. Bird

Editeur: Princeton Architectural Press (October 6, 2010)

...on the museum's third floor sits a five-story dollhouse donated to the museum by Faith Bradford, a Washington D.C. librarian, who spent more than a half-century accumulating and constructing the 1,354 miniatures that fill its 23 intricately detailed rooms. When Bradford donated them to the museum in 1951, she wrote a lengthy manuscript describing the lives of its residents: Mr. and Mrs. Peter Doll and their ten children, two visiting grandparents, twenty pets, and household staff. Bradford cataloged the Dolls' tastes, habits, and preferences in neatly typed household inventories, which she then bound, along with photographs and fabric samples, in a scrapbook...

Dolls for the Princesses : The Story of France and Marianne
de Faith Eaton
Royal Collection Enterprises (novembre 2002)
: It is well known that the Royal Collection contains an outstanding range of dolls and dolls' houses. The story told here concerns two very special dolls-France and Marianne-which were given to Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret in 1938, when they were, respectively, twelve and eight years old. Intended as a tangible expression of the Entente Cordiale between Great Britain and France on the eve of World War II, the dolls and their trousseaux also acted as a showcase for the French fashion industry and the elegant world of Parisian haute couture.
