Making Dolls' House Interiors: Decor and Furnishings in 1/12 Scale
Carol et Nigel Lodder, (Préface de Venus A. Dodge)
David & Charles Publishers (juill. 1997)
Collection : Collection et objets

A charming English style--and attitude--infuses this book on furnishing dollhouses. A Dorset-based father-and-daughter team selects eight rooms and decorates them according to eight different design periods, from a medieval scullery to a very modern (and pricey) kitchen. It may take a bit of interpretation to decipher their instructions for the projects because of the often very British language. Nonetheless, their methods for, say, painting a country pine dresser or building an Edwardian chiffonier are both novel and fairly easy to accomplish. Directions, though explicit, are not in the usual how-to format; the list of necessary materials is omitted and instructions are not illustrated in the step-by-step process seemingly necessary for this craft

The Mott's Miniature Furniture Workshop Manual: Techniques and Patterns for 144 Miniature Masterpieces
de Barbara Mott & Elizabeth Mott
Fox Chapel Publishing Company; Édition : 2nd Rev (septembre 1995)
This book contains detailed scale patterns for dozens of 1:12 scale miniature furnishings and toys. Many are scaled replicas of antique furnishings which once stood in the Mott Family home. Others are designs for miniatures seen in their world famous Mott's Miniature Musuem in California. In the front of the book is a handy guide which reviews hobby tools, woods and glues to use with miniature furniture projects. There is also a beginners section which covers some of the basic miniature wood carving techniques before you get into the projects. Advanced miniaturists can bypass this section. In the back of the book are 6 pages of full color lithographs which are applied to some of the projects. The original artwork for this colorwork was hand drawn and hand colored by Barbara Mott. This 1995 release is the second revised edition of the original book first released in 1978.

Doll's House Furniture
Margaret Towner (Author)

For centuries people have been thrilled and enthralled by miniature masterpieces of craftsmanship, and today collectors from all walks of life are more numerous and more dedicated than ever before. The sheer pleasure of searching for, restoring and arranging the contents of a doll's house is hard to match, and as a means of better understanding the home life of former generations, can hardly be beaten. The first chapter sets the scene by describing the doll's houses themselves, because finding one that is interesting and which will be rewarding to furnish is the best way to start a collection of miniature furniture.

Because the projects are arranged in the order of difficulty, crafters will learn skills progressively and gain confidence as they go along.
